Olympic Barbell or Dumbbells
This feature means what free weight equipment is compatible with the bench. Weight benches that only use dumbbells means that you cannot use a barbell with just the standalone bench. In order to use a barbell one would have to purchase an additional rack of some sort.
Bench Upright (90°)
Bench Upright feature refers to the specific upright position. For some it is important for a weight bench to position itself at an upright position of 90°. This position is essential for targeting the shoulder muscles.
What Other Equipment Do I Need?
The majority of the population that buy a weight bench usually buys a set of dumbbells or weights with a barbell.
You buy the typical set of dumbbells, however they do take up space and can lead to clutter. If you are restricted with space but want to train heavy then adjustable dumbbells are ideal.
There isn’t a need to keep plenty of weight plates around. Furthermore you don’t have to waste time during between sets changing the weights.
Check out the Top 7 Adjustable Dumbbells as we provide comparisons of best selectable dumbbells (they truly are a time and space saver).

Utilising Dumbbells With a Folding Weight Bench
There are countless dumbbell exercises that you can do on a fitness bench, however bear in mind that some folding weightlifting benches do not give you the space to use dumbbells. When the length of the workout bench is too short then you cannot use dumbbells for any laying press exercises (dumbbells will clash against the barbell rack). Most foldable weight benches should give you the room to use dumbbells though. All it requires is you shifting your body lower down the exercise bench, so ensure bench length is longer enough.
There are tonnes of dumbbell exercises that work your back, chest, arms and legs that you can use in conjunction with a workout bench. Below we explain and describe one of our favourite dumbbell exercise that involves a good portion of upper body strength.

Dumbbell Bench Press On An Adjustable Bench
Dumbbell Bench Press is almost exactly the same as the notorious Barbell Bench Press. The Dumbbell version of the bench press offer more range of motion and allows for that additional chest contraction at the top of the movement. Typically it’s easier using a an adjustable/utility bench for this exercise.
If your chest is lacking in mass then the dumbbell bench press might be the answer for you.
➤Target Muscle Worked: Pectoral (Chest)
➤Other Muscles: Triceps & Anterior Delts
➤Exercise Type: Compound
Before you learn how to perform the exercise we recommend learning how to retract your scapula for any horizontal pressing exercise. This keeps your shoulders safe during the movement and allows you to focus on the target muscles better.

Starting Position
Grab a set of dumbbells and sit on the end of bench with legs touching the ground. Hold dumbbells in a neutral grip and place each on both of your thighs, relatively close to your body.
Lift dumbbells with your legs and with one movement lie down on the bench controlling the dumbbells while your back lowers and touches the bench. While your back lowers pronate (palms facing) your grip from neutral.
Hold each dumbbell with a pronated grip on either side of your chest. You should be lying on the bench with dumbbells on each side of chest and elbows fully bent. Dumbbells should in line or just above your nipples. This is your starting position.
Exercise Movement
Push the dumbbells upwards with power till your elbows are almost straight. Hold for 1 second and then lower the dumbbells back to starting position with control. This is 1 rep.
Repeat the movement for given rep range

There’s not much I can say that’s not been said about this product but I will back up the good reviews. I bought this bench primarily for dumbbell presses and flyes as I wanted the incline, flat and decline positions. It obviously allows for much more than that. It’s perfect.
Very good build quality, very sturdy even during heavy lifting. Folds nice and flat for storage too. Very easy to setup and use. The padding is very supportive and the ankle supports are nice and comfortable, they do not dig into your legs at all.
If you want a good, multi-purpose bench then this is the one to go for.

Don’t hesitate – buy this bench. You won’t find a better, more robust bench in this price range, nor one that is so versatile. At first it seems a little complicated as there are several locking pin positions underneath the bench that need to be adjusted depending on what configuration you want. You will quickly get used to it though and it won’t be an issue. It doesn’t come fully upright for things like seated dumbbell shoulder press, but it’s still a nice position. The key for me is rigidity and this is a solid unit which is very well made and a nice comfortable shape for when you are bench pressing. I had one of these a couple of years ago but when I moved, I had no space for a gym so gave it to my former training partner.
Now I have moved again and have rebuilt my gym. I needed a bench and got another one of these, so that tells me something. I could have bought a cheaper one in my local Argos, but there really is no point in going cheap if you train regularly. You want good solid equipment which will last and be a pleasure to use. You will not be disappointed with this bench.’m a personal trainer and i love this product from RDX it especially great for my clients who are on a weight loss programme I get them to train with the amount of weight that they have lost just to show how hard life was before its a great fit and a real personal favourite of mine

bought this bench to use in my home gym and I’m well chuffed with it. Easy to put together and, considering the price, simply the best around. I needed quite a strong bench, considering I bench over 120Kg so, at 200Kg max, it’s just on the limit.
Quick tip though, there appears to be some confusion when fitting the seat which leaves a large gap between the seat and back rest. If there is a large gap then you’ve fitted the seat the wrong way round.

Received this product and build within half an hour, very easy to assemble and very sturdy. Is very similar to the one at my local gym. Padding is good, look forward to many years use out of this, excellent range of inclines availble too.
Thoroughly recommend to anyone else.
MiraFit Adjustable Folding Weight Bench
MiraFit Adjustable Folding Weight Bench comes built with barbell racks with additional dip station. The dip exercise is one very underated today but is extraordinary for developing great triceps and lower pectorals.

This folding weight bench is built at a length of 125cm which is generous for the majority to incorporate the dumbbell bench press into one’s training routine.

Folded away with precision keeping things tidy and out of the way. The MiraFit Folding Weight Bench is almost identical to the Gorilla Sports Weight Bench but sold at a lower price. This does not effect product quality in any way, both are extremely durable. They are both advertised to withstand a weight capacity of 200kg but realistically speaking can handle a combine user and load weight of 250kg.

Bench is amazing for the price. Ten times better than your standard cheap and cheerful bench. Frame much sturdier than standard benches you get hold of, locks for bench when folder up so it is easy to move about. You can set the barbell rack high as it goes then stick the bench on blocks and use it for squats too.

Sturdy well made bench. Best in price range. Could have opted for similar priced bench with leg attachment but then not as portable and would double the storage area needed. Good bench for price.
